Gandhi Shishu Smrithi Yathra 2025
Sydney Montessori Schools Create History with a World Record!
Gandhi Shishu Smrithi Yatra – A Tribute of Values, Childhood & Legacy
In a proud and historic moment, Sydney Montessori Schools have etched their name in the annals of world records with the Gandhi Shishu Smrithi Yatra 2025, an inspiring event that marked the centenary of Mahatma Gandhi’s visit to Kottayam.
Held in November 14th 2025, this grand tribute brought together 100 little champs from various branches of Sydney Montessori Schools. Dressed as “Little Gandhis”, these tiny ambassadors of peace marched through the streets of Kottayam, creating a heartwarming spectacle that captured the essence of Gandhian values — non-violence, simplicity, and social responsibility.
A Record-Breaking Moment
This beautifully curated event wasn’t just symbolic — it made history. Sydney Montessori was officially awarded a World Record by the World Records Union for the most participants in Mahatma Gandhi attire contributing to a commemorative hand imprint installation.
Children left their colorful handprints as part of a unique installation, commemorating both the legacy of Gandhi and the voice of the future generation. This record was achieved under the visionary leadership of J. Joseph and Jasmin K Mathew, the founders and academic heads of Sydney Montessori Schools.
More Than a March — A Movement
What set this event apart was not just the scale or the symbolism, but the social message it carried. The Yatra was held to spread awareness against intoxication — a theme that resonates deeply with Gandhi’s ideals. Through songs, slogans, and smiles, these little ones became messengers of a drug-free future.
The event also helped instill values of unity, empathy, and civic pride in the young participants — a true embodiment of the holistic education philosophy Sydney Montessori proudly follows.
A Network United for a Cause
With 14 branches and growing, Sydney Montessori Schools are known for their commitment to early childhood excellence. The Gandhi Shishu Smrithi Yatra saw active participation and support from staff, parents, and the local community. It was a shining example of what a value-driven school network can accomplish when fueled by purpose, leadership, and love for children.
Legacy in Little Steps
As the children walked, waved, and left their hand imprints, they weren’t just recreating history — they were making it. The event was not only a tribute to Gandhi but also a declaration of the kind of citizens Sydney Montessori hopes to raise — thoughtful, responsible, and rooted in timeless values.
This world record isn’t just a certificate on the wall — it’s a milestone in a journey that will inspire many more.
Sydney Montessori Schools invites every parent to be part of this journey — where every child is seen as a world-changer in the making.
